TF Comic Reviews

Transformers Movie Sequel, Issue 2 & 3 and Transformers: All Hail Megatron

Went to the beach for some camping with the family this pass weekend. My actual favorite part about the escapade is going to the comic shop (Book Mart) in Morehead. I soooo wanted to get more than severalmore but one my mom only let me get five. Well really four the fifth one was with my money. I only had four bucks. *sigh*

!Caution! If you haven’t read either of the comics yet (well really Hail Megatron) my review contains light spoilers. You’ve been warned

Transformers: The Reign of Starscream issue 2 & 3. Why not 1, because I really have it:) Both where really awesome reads especially # 3. I wish I could have gotten some more comics that what I did, but the going to Emerald Isle was a spur of the moment thing for me-b/c no one ever tells me anything until the last moment for some reason- so I didn’t have much money. 4 bucks to be correct.

I’ve never really cared much for James Raiz’s work but issue #3 is probably my favoritework from him. #2 is awesome too, but I like issue 3 more. I guess he’s like me. . .complicated art is our best. I do better at complicated art work than simple. Well I think that way anyway. Isn’t that weird? As always Alex Milne’s art ceases to amaze me and continues to make me jealous. The colors are my fav though (lol) there so clean and vided, they really protray what’s going on around them perfectly.

Cheers to Chris Mowry (did #2&3) and Chris Ryall (#2) too on the script! Heh that’s gotta be confusing.

I totally love this one! In the back when its going on about comments about the actual issue there talking about ‘roll calls’ and what have you about intro to the Seekers. . .I really don’t get it. I think the issue was nicely done. Darnyou Guidi and Burcham! Your work is sickly good. *pouts* Anyhooooo. . .

I really can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the issues despite being completely lost as to what happened to Optimus. If I’m not mistaken Shane McCarthy is new to the whole Transformers deal, but he’s got a bucket full of kudos from me! I think he did splendidly! He especially got Starscream spot on and protrade Megatron like I like him *big smiles* Hell, I’m not even a fan of Megatron as much as I am Optimus but damn I was like “Go Megatron!” while riding down the road in the back seat of my moms truck.

Now to the cover work. I really wanted Casey Collers and Josh Perez’s Megatron cover:

But I got the one above with Megatron holdings Optimus’ head on the snaped flag pole.

Read Joana Lafuente note on her DA page first and when I went over to Mr. Ryall’s Blogger page I thought it was kinda cool that the pic was acutally based off Brian Bolland’s DC comic “The Killing Joke”. Didn’t know that. But you know my luck isn’t that great (it sucks) but I’m satified with the one I got (Optimus! *cries*) Klaus Scherwinski did an awesome job-his work, I believe, is very distingtive, though I don’t like Megatron’s eyes. . .they look odd. Other than that pretty effin’ cool.

Rock on crew of IDW!!

I’ll get my two Spotlights up later, m’kay!

-Prime out!
